First Week of School...

has come and gone!  Wow!

The week started on Monday with "Meet the Teacher" appointments.  Brendan's 5th grade teacher is Ms. Saarinen.  She is a young Finnish lady who has a wonderful reputation at ISS and our meeting went great!  She will be a terrific fit for Brendan this year!  Then we headed down to meet Kyla's teacher, Mrs. Hickey.  She is new to ISS, but obviously has experience - she is organized and seemed outgoing and Kyla liked her immediately.  YEA!

Tuesday morning the kids were up bright and early and eager to get out the door!  But, of course, I made them stop to take a few pictures :)

After a summer full of holidays, fjord beach days with friends, playdates, and lots of tv watching and video games, the kids were both pretty eager to get back to school.  They have enjoyed seeing their friends on the playground at break time and getting back into the routine of the school year.

Brendan will be in band class this year and will be choosing an instrument to learn soon.  We don't what the choices will be but we are anxious to see what he picks.  Kyla came home the first day talking about her self-portrait she made.  Apparently it is amazing ;)

They have had lots to share!

In other goings on, the weather has been absolutely awesome, despite some not so promising forecasts (which is why is almost never look!)  It is definitely getting cooler, but when that sun comes out, it is just beautiful!

I, in my eagerness to share vacation pictures and such, failed to mention that Spencer did finally take his driving test and PASSED!  He is official in Norway and we are just awaiting his license to arrive in the mail.

As for me, I am getting back into the swing of things and just this week, went to two coffee mornings, volunteered in the kiosk, cleaned and organized both the kids bedrooms, and made it to the gym twice - oh and got my hair cut too!  Yep, back to the usual for me!

We have several things to look forward to in the next couple months!  My mom is coming for a week to visit in September!  She will be our first official guest from the states!  I am already trying to decide which places to take her and what 'must-see' things to do while she is here!

We also have officially booked (and paid for) our October holiday to...drum roll please....ROME!!! I think our amazing travel guru may have outdone herself in planning this one!  We are booked in a lovely family room in a small hotel in the city, have tours booked for catacombs, Vatican, and city views, as well as a day trip to Naples and Pompeii and we are just so excited!!  This has been a destination at the very top of my list of places I must visit and we have heard October is lovely there! I can hardly wait and as I look at the calendar, it is less than two months away!

So, cheers to all and best wishes to all of you who have yet to start school!
