Club Med Part 2

So, to continue with the vacation recap...

Wednesday morning we ate breakfast and then headed over to sign the kids up for Mini Club.  Just to give you an idea of the activities for 8-10 year olds...archery, "circus" (trapeze and trampoline activities), tennis, swimming, golf, team sports (such as soccer), plus, they would take the kids to lunch, an afternoon snack time, and sometimes dinner, depending on the schedule.  Yep, I am serious!!!! Of course, you always had the option to pick them up and/or take them back any time. We initially set it up where Spencer or I had to sign them in and out, but by the second day, we gave the kids a little more freedom and would let them sign out at a certain time and meet up somewhere.

The first day was a little tough for them because it was mostly in French and they didn't really know the routine of it all.  But, by the second day, they were on a roll!  They ended up trying just about everything, but quickly picked their favorite activities - swimming, tennis, archery - but they also played in an indoor soccer tournament Wednesday afternoon that included parents, tried the circus trampoline once, and attempted golf. By the end of our stay, the counselors were calling Kyla Lady Ga-Ga, thanks to her sunglasses...and Brendan, well, he won their hearts one night when all the kids had a dance party after the evening show and he showed off his very "original" dance moves ;) I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes!
While the kids were busy at Mini Club, Spencer and I took advantage of the organized morning walks. The first day was "Cretes d'Opio" and was about a 6.5 km walk to see some scenic and interesting places in the area.  One of the locations was the place where a tribute to the late Coluche, a famous French comedian who was also known for his community involvement in which he started an organization that provided food packages and hot meals to the needy. He was killed in a motorcycle accident at this location in 1986.
We also saw some beautiful homes and parts of a little village - here is a picture of one of the storefronts.

After our walk we met up with the kids and went to lunch.  Then, it was back to the Mini Club for them and off to lounge at the pool for us!  I had splurged on two American magazines at the airport and thoroughly enjoyed reading them cover to cover in the sun!

That evening after dinner the show was a circus themed event - let me just say, it was so cool!  What made it even more awesome is that all the people in the show were the people that worked at the Club, ran the kids' programs and activities - people you saw every day! It was kind of an "Alice in Wonderland" sort of theme and it had trapeze, acrobatics, all kinds of cool stuff - and great costumes too!

Needless to say, it was a great day!

Just a little word on the weather there - in one word, GORGEOUS!  It was in the mid-60's during the day and in the low 50's at night.  It ended up raining one day (our whirlwind tour day on Saturday) but otherwise it was fantastic!

Keep checking the blog...

Au revoir!
